Business School Postgraduates and Staff

Business School postgraduates and staff also have access to the Hub Library located on the lower ground floor of the Business School and to additional specialist resources through BizInfo.

Business School Resources for Finance

You may find that your project or dissertation involves finance sources which are available via the Business School directly, rather than the University Library.

Datastream. This is now a legacy product and the closest replacement is Eikon but you may find the data you need is available in S&P Capital IQ. Capital IQ can be accessed via DiscoverEd, Eikon is limited to selected terminals in the Business School Finance Lab.

FinanceLab- Alternative arrangements are available for the following data sources: Bloomberg; Eikon; Datastream; Thomson One. These are restricted to Busines School staff and students. To request access please contact Hub@business-school.ed.ac.uk including details of the data you need.

  A global financial markets database providing news, analytics, real time pricing for over 5 million securities world-wide plus extensive historical pricing and stock charts.

  Eikon provides access to Reuters News, global pricing data, company fundamentals, real-time research, commodities data and research, I/B/E/S estimates, deals & league tables and Datastream.

  Thomson One provides access to quotes, earnings estimates, financial fundamentals, market moving news, transaction data, corporate filings, ownership profiles and research.

Capital IQ is widely used in industry and combines deep global company information, credit ratings and research and market research with tools for risk assessments. It provides access to both real-time and historical information and:

The print collection for Business is held in the Main Library with most books available on the second floor and the ground floor HUB.

The Main Library also provides open-access computing, printing and a range of study spaces.

Resource Lists & Subject Guides

Resource Lists are online reading lists that can signpost you to key reading materials. Some of your courses may have a Resource List embedded in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) but you can also access them directly. Full details are available on the Resource Lists: Information for Students webpage.

Subject Guides from other disciplines can be a useful source of ideas and information. Some focus on a topic such as newspapers as well as others that are more subject specific e.g. Business, Medicine economics etc. A full list of subject guides is available on the university website.
